Dear Resident, Residents may be aware of ongoing reports of shoplifting and associated anti-social behaviour at the CO-OP in Teynham over recent weeks.
On Monday 14 September 2026, a prolific shoplifter who had been targeting the CO-OP almost daily for several weeks was located and arrested following intelligence received from outside the local area. Following their arrest, the offender was recalled to prison.
The individual had been responsible for causing significant concern to staff, customers and local residents through their persistent offending and associated anti-social behaviour.
Working with partner agencies and acting on intelligence received, officers were able to identify the offender's whereabouts in Teynham, resulting in their arrest and return to custody.
We would like to thank members of the public, local businesses and partner agencies who provided information to assist with this outcome. Your reports continue to play a vital role in helping us tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in our communities.
Kent Police remains committed to addressing repeat offenders and supporting local businesses affected by crime. If you witness crime or anti-social behaviour, please continue to report it so that appropriate action can be taken.
Thank you for your continued support. Richard PC DIVERS 30702 Beat Officer - Teynham & Lynsted Ward, West Downs Ward, Roman Ward Neighbourhood Policing Team - NPT SWALE | ||
